William "Bill" Henry Poteet

William “Bill” H. Poteet, 80, of Martinez, GA entered into rest at his home with family by his side on April 4th, 2022. Bill was born in Augusta, GA on July 18th, 1941, to the late James Thomas Poteet Sr. and Myrtle Peebles Poteet.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Paula Rhodes, her husband, Bill Rhodes, and two grandchildren, Corey Jones and Mckenzie Jones.

He was a dedicated father to Paula, always by her side, and very much involved in her life, her husband's, and her children’s. He loved yearly boat races and watching his grandson, Corey, at baseball games, who he referred to as his son. He also enjoyed going for ice cream and Friday night football games to watch his granddaughter Mckenzie, his “peaches”, cheer. He had a love for golf and playing at courses all over town and at the beach with his son-in law Bill, who he said was his best friend. Bill truly loved spending time with his daughter and her family to include their beach trips and cookouts.

William “Bill” H. Poteet is also survived by his brother, Richard E. Poteet of Martinez; and sister, Delores Mock of Evans. He is preceded in death by his brother, James “Jimmy” Thomas Poteet Jr; and sister, Carol P. Cain. Bill also has many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a fun-loving person, who loved to joke and make you laugh. He was very loved and will remain in our hearts, never forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 noon on Thursday, April 7th , 2022 at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd, Martinez Ga 30907.  Private family graveside services will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Columbia County Rec Dept. or Martinez Little League.
