Sukhrajie “Lalie” Sookraj

Sukhrajie Sookraj (Lalie), 91, entered into rest on March 10, 2022, at her residence. 

Lalie was born on February 27, 1931, at Blenheim Leguan, Guyana, South America. She migrated to the USA in 1993 and settled in Augusta, Georgia, with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Sonny Sookraj, and two sons, Karan and Pooran. Survivors include her children, Camo, Parmanand, Vidya, Dave, Mohan, Sandra, Ranie, and Danesh; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lalie was an excellent seamstress, a skilled housewife, cook, baker and homemaker.

She was very loving, kind, supportive, strong and dedicated mother to her children and grandchildren. Lalie was also a very supportive and caring Aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Lalie became a Christian after she migrated to the USA. She was baptized by Dr. Sandra Kennedy at the lake and she was a member of Whole Life Ministries where would attend frequently.  She practiced her religion by reading her Bible daily. 

No one was a stranger to Lalie, she was very kind hearted and she made anyone she met feel welcome with open arms. She was very generous and she would share whatever she had with anyone. 

Lalie loved sewing, gardening, cooking, reading her Bible, watching TV, traveling and meeting people. 

Visitation and viewing will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Whole Life Church, 2621 Washington Road, Augusta GA 30904, with funeral services following at 3:00pm at Whole Life Church.
