Sonja Weston

Mrs. Sonja Weston, 84, of Augusta, entered into rest on March 3, 2021. A graveside service will be held Wednesday March 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor Dewain French officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday morning at the funeral home.  

Sonja Erna Weston was an amazing woman. That was loved and will be missed and will always be cherished. Our OMI or MEMAW as she was called by her grand and great grandchildren was born in Saarbrucken Germany on January 9th 1937. She survived the 2nd World War and married Lawrence G. Weston moved to the United States and raised her 4 children on her own. She was an amazing mother to; Wayne Weston(Beverly), Cindy Cornelius, Caroline Whitehead(Doug) Patrick Weston. Grandmother to Amanda Weston , Christopher Weston, Douglas James Whitehead Jr., Carl Mitchell Whitehead, Micheal Cornelius, Stephanie Chapell, Stacey Ferron. She was a Great Grandmother to; Alexus, Hayden, Timothy, Noah, Avery and Ella
   Our mother was a world traveler living in Germany, France, Maine, New Jersey,  Virginia and made Augusta, Georgia her home for the next 46 years until she passed on March 3rd 2021,
   Her greatest enjoyments in life was family dinners and gatherings, vacations to the mountains, she loved the fall colors and cool crisp mountain air, the beach where she could enjoy the sunshine, warm breezes off of the ocean and fine dining, most of all she cherished going to Helen Ga. to listen to the German music and dance in the festhall and reconnect with her German roots. And many short trips to just get away and relax and recharge the batteries as she always said.
   Not only was she our mother she was our friend. She was the person that we could always talk to and depend on. To give us advice on life, love, happiness and our sorrows. She was our rock and tried all that she could to keep her family safe and together. In her passing she knew that she raised 4 children to adulthood that could take on the world and win.
   Thank you mother we will always love you and truly miss you. Wayne, Cindy, Caroline and Patrick
