Ruth B. McCurry

Ruth B. McCurry, 99, entered into rest March 4, 2022 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She is survived by her daughters, Claire M. Ayres and Carol A. McCurry; daughters in law, Elisabeth J. Paszkiewicz and Debra McCurry; her grandchildren, Troy McCurry and Laura Rakas; and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sons, James E. McCurry and Jay A. McCurry.

Ruth spent much of her early adult life as a military wife stationed overseas and in many different states. She and her family settled in Augusta, Georgia in the 1960’s. She worked as a legal secretary for several years and then went to work for the Georgia Department of Labor in 1975 from which she retired 23 years later. In 2013 Ruth moved to Florida to be close to her family.

During her time in Augusta, she was an active member of Burns Memorial United Methodist church where she taught Sunday school and served on many church committees. Ruth was a former president of the Augusta chapter of American Business Women's Association.

She enjoyed cooking big family dinners on special occasions and spending time with family and friends. Shopping and church events were also favorite activities.

Ruth was a strong woman with a strong work ethic and a giving spirit. She was a loving and devoted mother who worked hard to make sure her children would be successful in life by making sure they had the education, skills, faith in God, and respect for others they would need to be successful. She will now live in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia 30907, with burial immediately following at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Georgia 30904. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
