Russell Connor Evans, 22, entered into rest Saturday, March 18, 2023. Born in Augusta, on December 4, 2000, to John and Jennifer (Decker) Evans of Martinez, GA, his smile, charismatic personality, and sense of humor could light up any room and touch the hearts of all that met him.
Russell was a 2019 graduate of Lakeside High School. He fell in love with running Cross Country his sophomore year. Though slow at first, he was proud to have been awarded that season’s most improved runner. Our sweet boy loved music. He sang for the Lakeside High School Choir for 4 years and developed a beautiful voice! He was also a self-taught guitarist following in his brother Alun’s footsteps. Russell was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was active in the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 192 and was always there to help with any Legion, Sons, or Auxiliary function. Beloved by his entire family, he held a special bond with his younger brother and mischievous partner in crime, Timothy.
Russell was predeceased by his “adopted” grandfather and friend, Larry McCarty. He is survived by his parents, John and Jennifer of Martinez, GA; brother and sister(-in-law), Alun Evans and Lauren Luce of Denver, CO; brother, Timothy Evans of Martinez, GA; and his four-legged brothers, Boomer and Rex. Other surviving family include his grandparents, Patricia Decker of Martinez, GA and Glenn Decker (Barbara) of Waxhaw, NC, and Dayne and Phyllis of Utica, NY; uncles, Glenn Decker (Jeanette Kennedy) of Beech Island, SC, Joseph (Donna) Decker of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Brian Decker (Miranda) of North Augusta, SC; aunt, Katherine (Erik) Bousquet of New Hartford, NY; his best friend, Vince Mandarini; and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.
All are welcome to a Celebration of Life Visitation from 1:00 - 3:00pm on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Augusta, GA.
