On February 17, 2022, Rudolph (Rudy) G. Brostrom, passed away in Augusta, GA at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Brostrom; sister, Rhoda (Rosie Savage); sons, Arthur, Robert, Richard, and Thomas; daughter, Amy Capitosti; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. His parents were the late Adolph Brostrom and Aletha Love.
Rudy had a passion for gardening at his home in South Carolina. He frequently invited friends over for their pick of the bounty. Rudy was very active in sports including softball, golf, and volleyball, and was an instructor in tennis, yoga and dancing. He was former president of the Augusta Ski club. Rudy was also a pilot and was president of his flight club in Key West, Florida. He was a dance instructor for many years and inspired many people to love dance as much as he did.
Rudy proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard U.S.S. Cascade and Hissem, and was stationed abroad in Japan and Cuba. He retired as SCPO in 1974 after being awarded the Bronze Star Medal. His service continued as an instructor of NJROTC at Aiken High School and as Director of Thank a Wounded Warrior, making “Sunshine Boxes”, lifting the spirits of some of America’s heroes.
Rudy and Judy attended services at Stevens Creek Church for many years where they found their spiritual home. This is where he made his commitment to God and served as Usher, Greeter and Dance instructor.
Rudy and Judy founded Gazebo Weddings where his passion for uniting couples lasting for 27 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Stevens Creek Church, 600 Stevens Creek Rd, Augusta, GA 30907.
