Robert Kenneth Platson (Bob) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2021. Bob was born on April 26,1949 in Quincy, Illinois and was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Dorothy Platson. Bob was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Daughter: Stacey Platson Biggerstaff (Joe), Son: Kenneth Freeman Platson II ( Jennifer ) Grandchildren: Bryce Overton Biggerstaff and Kenneth Freeman Platson III (Tripp), Brother: John Platson, Sisters: Sandy Allison and Pamela Floyd, Nephews and Nieces: Trevor Kitchens (Christina), DeDe Duffie Heard (Chris), Troy Green (Amy), Chris Green (Jennifer), and several great nephews and nieces. Also his girlfriend Susan Greene.
Bob graduated from Evans High School Class of 1967 and then served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard. While enlisted he served as a Ceremonial Honor Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 192 and previously served as Post Commander. He spent many years in the Construction business primarily as a brick mason. The last twenty years Bob spent working for Caddie Master Enterprises at the Augusta National Golf Club, (Caddie #59). Bob found no greater pleasure than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and nephew Trevor. He was known for thinking of and doing for others before himself. He was an Avid golfer winning numerous local tournaments and long drive competitions, as well as being a member of the Applewood Golf Course and never missed playing the Monday “Apple-Mania” with his golfing buddies.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and a Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home chapel Thursday at 11:00 am.
