Patricia Garner Obituary

“Dates don’t matter. It’s the dash in the middle that counts the most.”

Patricia’s life was filled with simple pleasure and treasures including laughter, fun, and the happiest moments surrounded by family!!

Life for Patricia begun in Baltimore City, MD. She was very proud to be in the first graduating class of Lansdowne and graduated from Kerr Business College for Hotel/Motel Management. Her career begun at Wren Optical where she enjoyed working alongside her son.

As she started her own family, she spent much of her time “tending” to anyone and everyone around her. She was known as Mom, Aunt Patsy and Mema. She was often lovingly called Memonster. She was known to listen with a cool head to all who asked her advice, but she also was known to get her “nails” or “paddle” after whoever needed a little “correction”. The boys from Beaver Drive said she treated them “like we were one of her own” and “loved us all so hard” whether they were good or bad!! Pat also “made that shoe fly like a boomerang” when necessary.

Pat’s life was filled with travel, and she went by the CB handle “Morning Star”. She enjoyed riding the country in a big rig. She also loved traveling to the mountains and beaches with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She was known to treat them all to an ice cream cone in a campground in the middle of nowhere (even the children who were not her own, she was not going to have them do without).

Music was also such a big part of Pat’s life. She could listen to Elvis for hours or do some fine Karaoke to Patsy Cline at the drop of a hat. She even stepped in at the last minute and sang “Love Can Build a Bridge” at Jimmy and Jane’s wedding.

She spent many hours doing puzzles, watching wrestling and “good old movies”. She loved to play with those great-grandbabies and enjoyed each new birth with excitement and joy!!

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents the late Milton Claude and Erma Shiloh Houck. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Ronald, Gloria, Joyce and Shirley. Her children were her life: Patricia Ellen Powell, Jimmy Powell Jr. (Jane), Shannon Pederson (Bruce), T. J. Powell (Jade) and Melissa Seymour. Her grandchildren were her heart: William, Bobbie, J. P., Amber, Chris, Gabby, Jake, Taylor, Austin, Michael, Tori, Ava, Joslynn, and Angel. Her great-grandchildren were her shining light: Kenzley, Riley, Baby Powell, Dustyn, Waylon, Raeleigh, Katelyn, Hunter, Nicholas, Easton, Bailey, Baby Grigg, Alora, Abella, Amalachi, Noah, Savannah, Kaytlen, and Ethan. Patricia leaves behind many, many more family members, loved ones and friends that she cared about deeply.
