Pastor Khanh Le Obituary

Pastor Khanh C. Le, 65, of Hue City (Quang Binh), Vietnam passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 1st, 2021 in Augusta, Georgia. Born on October 10th, 1956, son of Huc Cong Le and Song Thi Nguyen of Hue City, Vietnam, the oldest of ten children. Following the Vietnam War and after several failed attempts to escape the war torn country, he successfully fled Vietnam by boat and sought refuge in the United States in 1989 in Augusta, GA.

Khanh was a man with a myriad of talents. He served in the South Vietnamese Army as a young Lieutenant during the Vietnam War. Once the war ended, education and job opportunities were scarce. In order to survive, he learned the art of tailoring in Vietnam and used his talents to become a well-known tailor in the CSRA region.

Khanh loved people and wanted everyone to experience the same joy he experienced after accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior. He wanted to become a missionary and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, so he attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky earning a degree in Master of Divinity. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta and the Augusta Korean Methodist Church where he was engaged in pastoral care and leading bible study within the Vietnamese community. Khanh couldn’t go anywhere without seeing a familiar face, and striking conversation with each reunited acquaintance along the way. In addition to tailoring and pastoral care, Khanh earned his GA state license in General contracting for construction, using this as an opportunity to build churches, dental offices and other construction projects in the Augusta area while sharing the Gospel with those he worked with and encountered. He was a devoted family man and always left an impression on people with his infectious smile and humor.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Jung S Le of the home; his mother in Vietnam, his nine siblings, his son Minh Cong Le, his daughter Michelle (Cornell) Walker, and his grandson, Steven Cong Le who brought lots of love, laughter and tears to him over the years. He is also preceded in death by his father, Huc Le.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 5th from 4:00-9:00pm at the Augusta Korean Methodist Church (2641 Barton Chapel Rd) with open viewing at 4:00-5:00pm, English service at 5:00-7:00pm and Vietnamese service at 7:00-9:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life service on November 6th at 12:00pm at the First Baptist Church (3500 Walton Way Ext) Augusta, Georgia.
