Kevin Childress

Kevin Patrick Childress, an esteemed Federal Agent and beloved husband,  father, and friend died unexpectedly at the age of 56 on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. 

For the last decade, Kevin spent his happiest life with his wife, Maryann, and Yorkies Lilly and Layla. Kevin is survived by his daughter Rebecca Jean, step daughters Marni and Monique Sheps, his father and stepmother, Jack and Sue Childress, mother Sharon Dreyer Childress, Mother-in-Law Lucy Machuga, half-sister Roxanne Zimmerman McGowan, half-brother Michael Zimmerman, Uncle Tommy Childress and Aunt Becky Jo.

His sister, Kelly Childress Plyler and half-brother, David Zimmerman, preceded him in death. Kevin’s late grandmother, Rebecca Olga Nicholson Childress, was one the most influential family members in his life. 

Kevin was born on January 19, 1965 in Daytona Beach, Florida and lived in numerous US cities before settling in Evans, Georgia. Kevin had a 30 year career as a Senior Special Agent, and among many accolades, was twice awarded with an honor from the Secretary of the Department of Energy, recognizing him for going above and beyond the call of duty in his role. 

For all his work successes, Kevin was known for bringing laughter into a room and encouraging light hearted goofiness. He was passionate about space exploration and enjoyed watching satellites from his backyard with his wife and step-children. His investigative mind fueled his desire to bring open conversations surrounding Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) and he was determined to find answers to the unknowns of our universe for future generations. He was taken away too soon. He was the man who was always there when you needed him, and will be deeply missed. 

The Celebration of Life will be held at Thomas L. KING Funeral Home located at 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907 from 6-8pm on Friday, September 10, 2021.
