Jon Ortega Obituary

Jon Craig Ortega, the beloved son of Irene Marie C. Ortega, was born on September 23, 1996 in Caloocan City, Philippines. He and his family lived in Illinois until 2013 when they moved to Georgia. Jon was a very enthusiastic, intelligent, and curious person. After graduating from Cambridge High school, he explored many career paths, he wanted to find what will help him make a difference in the world. He pursued business administration and a certification in nurse assisting. When he moved to Augusta, GA with his mom, he continued his education in healthcare by completing his licensed practical nursing degree and starting his pharmacy technician certification.

Jon remained curious about many things around him and around the world. He was an avid researcher of all subjects, and he was always surrounded by literature. Jon was also a talented creator, recording Bible and various other book reviews for YouTube. Jon was very kind-hearted, and a very loving soul, above all else, his love centered around his mom and his connection with God. He attended St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, and he also found a connection with the people of Warren Baptist Church, where he was warmly welcomed.

Jon attended Bible studies, and along with his many educational interests, he also wanted to pursue the Sacrament of the Holy Orders. Jon always sought to be in service of others, he wanted to be a comfort to many souls and his favorite verse is John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

Jon was a very caring son, making sure his mom is rested, fed, and taken care of after her night shifts as a nurse. She is his hero, and his pursuit of a better world was inspired by her. They spent much of their time together, from traveling and seeing new places, trying new restaurants, or just enjoying each other’s love and presence by running errands, grocery shopping, and having breakfast together.

Jon also has an older sister Shane, and a younger brother Sean. They grew up playing trading card and xBox games with each other. They often reenacted favorite wrestling scenes and watched many movies together. Jon and his brother pursued music and basketball as similar interests, and often played wrestling games with each other after church and brunch. Jon and his sister have a love for reading and alternative art. Jon was simply a very playful, caring, loving, and passionate person about everything he came across in this world. Two of Jon’s most loved beings are he and his mother’s cats, Frosty and Mama Jeanne, both of whom were rescues. Mama Jeanne reminded him of his own mom, and he fiercely protected her from the harshness of the world, he showered them both with so much love.

Jon is also survived by his aunts and uncles, his cousins, and his grandparents, and everyone will miss his presence in this life. All of the memories of Jon’s life will be cherished by his family, and everyone is grateful to have known such a bright person in this lifetime, he is irreplaceable.

In John 11:25-27: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Jon is with God, in the presence of His love and warmth, watching over us.
