Velma Jean Turner, 73, entered into rest on Friday, June 3, 2022, with her loving husband, James “Jim” Turner, 96, following her in death two days later on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Velma and Jim were both born in Jacksonville, Florida. Velma was born on August 1, 1948, and Jim was born on January 15, 1926. They adored each other and were a loving couple who were together for over 50 years.
They are preceded in death by their son, George W. Harvey.
Left to cherish Velma’s memory are her children, Deborah Harvey, Renia Shade (Arnold), Robert Earl Harvey (Kishia), and Patrick Turner; three sisters; one brother; nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a special best friend, Patricia Averitt.
JIm was an only child, and is survived by his children, Renia Shade (Arnold), Deborah Harvey, Patrick Turner (Shawan), and Robert Earl Harvey (Kishia); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and aunt.
Velma would always say, “God is in control”, and she proved that to her last breath. “Rise and shine” was Jim’s favorite childhood saying when the children were younger.
The family would like to give thanks to three special nurses, Regina, Kassandra, and Shawna, who took such loving care of both of the Turners.
