James Edward Stanley, 64, entered into rest on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
James grew up and graduated high school in Tallmadge, Ohio, living there until turning 18 and joining the Army as military police. He was honorably discharged and chose to settle in warm, sunny Georgia for the remainder of his adult life.
James had a passion for many things - finding a good deal, animals, classic cars, collectables and antiques, traveling, trying new things, good food, watches and timepieces of all sorts, helping his friends in need, and of course family. You could often find Jim chatting up recent news events, politics, religion, his recent acquisitions, and reflecting on memories of days gone by. He spoke his mind openly, and when he set his mind to something, it was going to happen.
It was always his passion to help others through the funeral business - he had a comforting way with mourning families and helped those who passed on transition with the utmost care and respect. It truly was his calling.
James was inquisitive, clever, funny, smart, tenacious, fiercely independent, and proud of his accomplishments. He was a nature lover and saw the hand of God in the wonders of daily life. He loved his country and was a devoted Patriot, specifically a Democrat.
James is survived by his father, Niles Edward Stanley; his sister, Lisa (Stanley) Taunt; brother-in-law, Scott Taunt; niece, Sylvia (Taunt) Persons; and stepmother, Veronica (Leiher) Stanley.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Crownhill Cemetery in Ohio at a later date, where James will be laid to rest next to his late mother, Sylvia Jean (McBee) Stanley.
