IN LOVING MEMORY OF
J.C.
Boyd
October 15, 1932 – January 24, 2025
J.C. Boyd died on 24 Jan 2025 at the age of 92 at Warrenton Health and Rehab, Warrenton, GA.
J.C. was born on 15 October 1932 in Toccoa, GA, and was the 2nd son of the late Eugene Clyde Boyd and Christine Cobb. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Jean Wheeler, in June 1950. They moved from Toccoa, GA, to Greenville, SC, where their two sons were born in 1951 and 1954. About 1956, J.C. and wife, Jean, moved to Columbia Co., GA, where their two daughters were born in 1957 and 1959.
J.C. was employed as a hardworking and well respected house and commercial painter for multiple contractors before starting his own painting business in the mid 1960s. He successfully worked his business primarily in the Columbia and Richmond counties area until he moved to Lincoln County in the early 1990s where he worked for Walter Palmer for a short while.
After his wife Jean died in March of 1980, J.C. married and divorced two more times. He subsequently found a life partner in Gail Sauls until her death in 2003.
When he moved to Lincoln county in the early 1990s, J.C. personally built the house in which he lived on Hwy 220 East. He was exceptionally proud of the work he did getting that house up and going. J.C. was a man with a tremendous work ethic that he passed down through his family members.
J.C. enjoyed socializing with folks and helping them whenever he could. Most who met and dealt with him spoke very favorably of him. J.C.'s favorite hobby was fishing and he was quite a good fisherman.
His survivors include three children, Alan Dale Boyd of Evans, GA, Darryl Bryant Boyd of North Augusta, SC, and Dana O'Neil Boyd Messer Kitchens of Lincolnton, GA. He has surviving brothers Tommy Allen Boyd of Commerce, GA, Cecil Boyd and Jimmy Boyd of Toccoa, GA, and surviving sisters, Doris Jean Boyd Boleman Mallon of Fountain, FL, Joyce Boyd Elliot of Martin, GA, and Fannie Boyd King of Toccoa, GA.
J.C. was preceded in death by one child, Britta Clydene Boyd, and brothers Glenn Boyd of Winder, GA, and William Raymond "Billy Ray" Boyd of Toccoa, GA. He is survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
At his request, no funeral services were held for J.C. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Warrenton Health and Rehab and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
