Hiram Antonio Hernández-Rodriguez Sr., 73, entered into rest on September 12, 2022.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Otilia R. Hernández; their two children, Vivianne Hernández Fuentes and Hiram Antonio Hernández; four grandchildren, Christopher Jordan Etheredge, Alexander José Etheredge, Sofía Gabriela Fuentes, and Jazmyn Cañez; great-grandchildren, Alina Leani, Elisa Kamil, Gabriel Antonio, Rose, Olivia Isabela, and Rhiannon Iliza; four siblings, Hernan, Hilda, Laura, and Hector; and many nieces and nephews.
Hiram was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, in June of 1949. Referred to as Tony by many friends, he spent 15 years in the U.S. Army which eventually brought him to Augusta, GA in August of 1983. As part of this service, he saw action in the Vietnam War and concluded multiple foreign tours through Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Germany. After his military service, he began his career with the United States Postal Service and retired after 27 years in 2013.
Hiram joins his mother, Juanita Rodriguez, and great-grandson, Kal-El Etheredge, in the afterlife.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, Georgia. A graveside service and burial honoring the life of Hiram Hernández will be at noon on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Georgia.
