Elva Carolyn (Fraser) Stout

Elva Carolyn (Fraser) Stout passed away at her home in Lincolnton, GA on May 30, 2022, at the age of 86.

Elva is survived by her husband, Jim Close; four children, Sherri (David) Jones, Karrie Stout, Evan (Melody) Stout, and Eric (Brenda) Stout; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Brittani, Kaitlyn, Rebekah, Erin, Philip, Faith, Geoffrey, Gabrielle, Garland, and Glynnis; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Arno Warnke; and one sister, Rhonda Warnke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Forrest Stout (2002).

Elva was a native of Kansas City, MO.  She graduated from Appalachian State University B.S. (1972), Augusta State University M.Ed. (1978), and University of South Carolina D.Ed. (1990).

In her lifetime, she served as a devoted teacher in many local public schools (Riverside Middle, Lakeside Middle, Bel Air Elementary, A.C. Griggs) and churches (First Baptist Augusta, West Acres Baptist, Abilene Baptist). 

Elva is remembered by her family for her passion and love of God.  She was an avid reader.  She especially enjoyed reading and learning about geology and astronomy.  In recent years, she explored the U.S. and Canada with Jim.  

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907.
