Mr. Elijah (Eli) Wright, 88, entered into rest on Sunday, December 5th, 2021, at 7:00 pm at home peacefully with his family. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary K Wright.
Eli was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, where he grew up working on the farm until he left home at an early age to join the Army where he served proudly for 33 years. After retiring from the military, Eli became well known around Augusta for Eli's Pest Control where he met so many good people and made life long friends over the 20 years he owned the company He served as a Deacon at Fleming Baptist Church for many years where he would drive the bus and teach Sunday School. He was a very active member of the community and he never met a stranger, and he loved meeting and talking to new people. Eli was an amazing Husband, Father, and Grandfather, and he made an impression on everyone he met and will be missed greatly by everyone that knew him. He loved going to the beach, races, and the Atlanta Braves. He is survived by two brothers, Charles and Marvin Wright; four children, Terry White, Carol Wright, Kathryn Wright, and Jason Wright; nine grandchildren, Zarha Johnson, Braxton Wright, Taylor Wright, Gage Wright, Gavin Wright, Caitlyn Taylor, Randy Taylor, Carley Taylor, and Silena Preston; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Preston, Brilee Preston, and Bennett McDaniel.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in the chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home. Graveside burial will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Chavis Cemetery in Bennettsville, South Carolina. Honorary pallbearers for Eli will be the Masons.
