Dolores Logan Tankersley entered into rest on October 27, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Louis Tankersley, Jr. for 66 years. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 14 (with two more on the way). She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Dolores was born on September 15, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Earl Vance Logan and the late Francis Floyd Logan. She graduated from Richmond Academy. Albert and Dolores were married on October 15, 1952. Their children are A. Louis Tankersley III (Cathy), Lorna Tankersley Beasley (Randy) and Helen Tankersley Coursey (Mitchell).
Dolores was a faithful, long time member of Warren Baptist Church and taught preschool Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Miller Sunday School Class and a member of the Garden Club. Dolores loved traveling with her husband and took lots of pictures wherever they went. She also loved spending time with her family.
“Grammy’s” grandchildren are Joel Sanders (Kristin), Christopher Tankersley (Hannah), Leigh Coursey Slagle (Evan), Benji Sanders, Andrew Tankersley, Toby Sanders, Shelby Sanders Connor (Matt), and Devin Coursey and 14 great grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by one sister, Dianne Logan Clark and one sister-in-law, Margie Dicks Logan. She is preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister, Vance Logan, John Arthur Logan, Kent Logan and Doris Logan Williams.
In addition to her husband, parents, and siblings, Dolores was also preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Mitchell Coursey, Jr. and her granddaughter, Linzi Coursey Lowe and her son in law Bodie Sanders.
The family would like to invite you to celebrate the life of this wonderful woman. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 30th from 12:30 – 1:30 at Thomas L. King Funeral Home. This will be followed by a graveside service at 2:00 at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor Dave Dillard officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice. Thomas L. King Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
