David Bryan Edwards, Sr. was invited to the fishing hole in the sky, by our Lord and Savior, on the afternoon of September 8, 2021. He was born on December 11, 1957 to Elbert G. and Virginia Yates Edwards, Sr. in Cleveland, OH. He grew up in Chippewa Lake, OH, until the age of 16 relocating to Grovetown, GA, where he completed his rank of Eagle Scout in the BSA.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children, Elizabeth Lopez and David B. Edwards, Jr both of Augusta. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Joetta Church of Thomson and Janet Travis (David) of Edgefield, former wife, Glenda Edwards, other countless family members, friends and grand dogs, Bambi and Lexi. He was preceded in Death by his parents and brother, Mark Walls.
David was a 1976 graduate of Harlem High School. After working as an Electrician for 30 plus years, he retired from Goff Electric and The IBEW, local 1579. He had a passion for the outdoors, thus being an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. David had a passionate, giving heart. He would share his garden bounty with family, friends and even strangers never charging. He kept a candy dish available at his home to visitors, especially children. His giving heart was evident in the end while having a small candy dish on his hospital bedside table, encouraging the nurses and doctors to indulge. That giving heart will truly be missed.
“I was invited to the fishin’ hole, Where every day is a day to fish To fill your heart with every wish Don’t worry or feel sad for me I’m fishin’ with the Master of the Sea.”
Visitation celebrating his life will be 5 -7 pm, Thursday, September 16 at Thomas King Funeral Home. Attire will be casual, and/or wear your favorite camouflage or what ever you want. The spreading of his ashes will be at a later date in Wildcat Creek, Rayburn County, GA. Thank you to everyone who was kind, caring and helpful during David’s illness and battle with cancer during the last four years. Thomas L. King Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
