Cleveland Wallace "Buck" Tinley, Jr. departed this life on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Born in Augusta, Buck was the son of Cleveland Wallace "Big Buck" Tinley, Sr. and Louise Calhoun O'Connor Tinley. He graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1960, attended Augusta College, and during his career worked as assistant manager of the Augusta Country Club, the manager of the Town Tavern Restaurant, a mortgage lender at Summerville Mortgage and at Kelly Promotional Products.
Buck was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, a Past Grand Knight, (1976-1977) of Patrick Walsh Council, No. 677, Knights of Columbus, a former President (1983) of the Irish American Heritage Society and in 2001 was honored to serve as Grand Marshal of the Augusta St. Patrick's Day Parade. He participated on Mondays with the Gooney's Lunch Group and on Fridays with the Bill Berry Lunch Group.
In addition to his parents, Buck was predeceased by his niece, Catherine Kish Kay. He is survived by his sister, Louise Calhoun Tinley; his niece, Helen Kish LIndholm; his nephew, Carey Simmons; his cousin, Thomas W. Tinley, III; his Godson, Philip Sancken Ward, Jr.; and a very special friend, Patricia Bowles Bolick.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 17, 2022, at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, Georgia. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium next to the church. Father Solomon will be the Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Aquinas High School or the The Hale Foundation.
Honorary pall bearers for the Funeral Mass will be the members of the Irish American Heritage Society and the Knights of Columbus, Patrick Walsh Council, No. 677.
