On the beautiful spring morning of May 4th, 2023, Christina Shine Solowsky, 66, left this world, in her home with her family at her side, after a long illness. She went quietly in her sleep and will suffer no more. The world became a little less bright at that moment.
She leaves behind her husband of 33 years, Mike Solowsky; her son, Zak Solowsky; her faithful cat, Hallie, who was always by her side; and everyone who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Shine; and her brother, John Shine, Jr.
Christina was happiest when she was giving to others, and she was caring almost to a fault. It would seem impossible to try to count the number of people she knew and cared about.
She worked as an internal auditor at Liberty Travel for 25 years, where she had a very successful and rewarding career. She made many friends there and viewed her coworkers as family. She spent the better part of the last 35 years living with her family in Warwick, New York, which was a place that she loved dearly.
She loved to shop, and she loved her vast collection of clothing. She loved Italian food and Arthur Avenue bread. New York pizza was her favorite. She was a lifelong lover of music and going to concerts. The first and last band she saw in concert was Black Sabbath. Two of her favorite songs were "I Remember You" by the band Skid Row, and her wedding song, "More Than Words" by Extreme. She will always be remembered for her unique style and bright personality. She truly had the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone. People would often tell her she looked like Stevie Nicks and she would often remind us of that. She was strong until the end, and would not want us to feel sorry for her.
If you loved her, please take a moment to remember something good about her and to celebrate her life, because that is what she would want. There will be a memorial for friends and family that will be held in New York, to be announced at a later date.
Christina loved her cats, and all animals dearly, and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to https://rikkisrefuge.org/ on her behalf. She would have wanted that.
