Carolyn McMillan

Carolyn Strickland McMillan of Grovetown GA, entered into rest at her home on January 29, 2021.  

Carolyn was born April 16, 1943 in Augusta GA to John Howard Strickland Sr and Miriam Moore Strickland.  She graduated from Evans High School.  

Carolyn met Stephen B. McMillan in 1970 in Augusta GA, and soon followed Stephen to Germany where they traveled extensively and ultimately married in 1971 with their first child Irene born while still stationed in Germany.  

After returning to the United States, Carolyn and family moved to Louisiana and after having their second child, Jacob, ultimately moved to Columbus GA for their next duty station. 
After spending several years in Columbus, adventure and the military called and the family started their next adventure by moving to Nome, Alaska.  It was while in Alaska that their family became complete with the adoption of their third child, Ronda.  

After Alaska, and one last duty station in Colorado. Carolyn and family settled back to the Augusta area.  
Carolyn held many jobs in the Civil Service while traveling alongside Steve, but she will be most remembered as a Bus Driver for the Columbia County GA BOE, just like her mother did years prior.  

After retiring from bus driving, Carolyn and Steve settled down in Grovetown GA to enjoy life with Ronda and their growing family.  

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Stephen B. McMillan, her daughter Irene McMillan Barton and her husband Danny of Grovetown GA, her son Stephen Jacob McMillan and his wife Angel of Columbia SC, and daughter Ronda Lisa McMillan.  She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Cody Barton, Morgan Barton, Kallista Kalney, Peyton Barton,  Michael McMillan, Brady McMillan, Max McMillan and one great grand child, Drake Stephens.  She is also survived by her brother Howard Strickland, as well as beloved cousins Rosemary Hajostek and Anne Carswell.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents as well as brother Alvin Strickland.

The family will receive visitors at a graveside service on Monday February 1st 11:30 AM at Bellevue Memorial Gardens 4501 Wrightsboro Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813
