Carolyn Margaret (DeLoach) Darnell

Carolyn Margaret DeLoach Darnell went to rest peacefully on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. She was born May 16th, 1943, in Augusta, Georgia, son of the late James Alfred and Nettie DeLoach. She grew up in Harrisburg (the mill village). She had a passion for flowers and dogs. If you saw her out and about with friends, she usually had her brother tagging along too.

She loved children and devoted the first half of adulthood to working and running a daycare. Her later years were spent devoted to her immediate family. She loved the mountains and enjoyed vacations with the family to Pigeon Forge, TN. She often times could be found with a Dachshund or Pomeranian pup on her lap. Whether it was organizing holiday get-togethers, giving instructions on a family recipe, or putting on Sunday dinners, family always came first.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John William Darnell; parents, James Alfred and Nettie Leopard DeLoach; and brother, James Kenneth DeLoach. She is survived by herloving daughter, Margaret Darnell (Martinez, GA); and sons, Bruce Walter Darnell (Martinez,GA) and Alan William Darnell and his wife Michelle (North Augusta, SC); grandchildren, Krista Trill (Knoxville, TN), Jaylen Xavier Darnell (Martinez, GA), and Matthew Brown (North Augusta, SC); nephew, James DeLoach, his wife Michelle and their children Cosette, Reed, and Aibhlinn (Martinez, GA); and many extended family and friends.

We mourn the loss of our mother, nana and aunt, and we encourage any and all who knew her to remember the joy and light she brought to this world. The next time you see a childor pet in need, offer them help in her honor and know she will be watching with a smile. We love you Mom/Nana, fly high!

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Thursday, April 7th, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 8th, 2022, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.
