Bobby Edward Tiller was born on July 9, 1933, to Frank and Maybelle Tiller in Augusta, Georgia, and left for Heaven on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the age of 89.
He retired as a pipefitter with Local Union 150 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Many knew him from years of coaching at Richmond County Recreation Department and Masters City Little League, where a field was named in his honor after years of dedication and work as a coach and unofficial groundskeeper. Bobby always loved cutting jokes, flirting with his favorite waitresses and nurses, and cutting grass, whether it was his own or someone else's. He enjoyed people-watching yearly at the county fair, bluegrass music from Lincolnton's own Little Roy and Lizzy, Goolsby's, Sconyers, and his dogs, Ladybug, Buster, and Molly.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 68 years, Myrtle White Tiller; his children, Rob (Caroline), Frank, and Teresa; grandchildren, Mike (Audra), Jim (Lauren), Vivi, Drew (Tarra), and Kyle (Kaci); and great-grandchildren, Mia, Aven, Sully, Mabel, Brinsyn, Beaux, and Karli Maze. He was known as "Uncle Bobby" by his many nieces, nephews, and family friends. Bobby was the eighth of nine children born to Frank and Maybelle Tiller. All his brothers and sisters passed before him and most likely picked on him for being last. Bobby's brothers were Frank, Ollis, Harrell, Buddy, Reese, and Jack, and his sisters were Mary Tiller Stewart and Sara Tiller Reynolds. He will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in the Chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
