Beverly Ann Hoag Lux, 89, peacefully entered into rest on Saturday, 18 November 2023.
Beverly Ann Hoag was born 3 February 1934 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Irving Charles Hoag and Edith Martha Mallette Hoag, both now deceased, as are her older brother Irving Charles Hoag, Jr., and sister Jean Marie Hoag Mackey. Beverly graduated in 1951 from Pittsfield High School. She then became a Telephone Operator who found special satisfaction in connecting multiple calls simultaneously. While a member of the choir and the Sunday School secretary at Morningside Baptist Church in Pittsfield, she met Richard Hall Lux of New Orleans, Louisiana, a chemist at General Electric. They married in April 1953; shortly afterwards, Richard was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in a technical unit until 1955. Following his Army service, the young couple moved first to Louisiana, where daughter Sherron Connie was born, and then to Georgia, where daughter Carol Linda was born, then to Indiana, then finally back to Georgia. After Richard had a series of mini strokes, Beverly and Richard moved to Aiken, South Carolina, to be closer to most of their family; Richard died in 2020.
Beverly loved children, and enjoyed working in the nurseries of the churches the family attended in the various cities in which they lived. While at Highland Hills Baptist in Macon, Georgia, she served as Nursery Coordinator for several years. At Warren Baptist in Augusta, Georgia, she not only volunteered in the church nursery but sang in the Ladies Rejoice ensemble.
Beverly Lux is survived by her daughters Sherron Lux (m. Henry Greek, Houston, Texas) and Carol Lux Barton (m. Danny Barton, Aiken, South Carolina), granddaughters Heather Marie Hughes (m. Jeremy Hughes, North Augusta, South Carolina) and Melissa Renae Smith (m. Will Smith, Graniteville, South Carolina), and five great-granddaughters, all of whom she was very fond: Amber, Jasmine, Brooke, Audrey, and Lydia. She is loved and missed by many.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Providence Baptist Church, 3850 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta GA 30909, with Dr. Don C. Prosser officiating, and with interment immediately following at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta GA 30904. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.
