Adeline Akiko Kawano

Adeline Akiko Kawano, 87, entered into rest on Monday, March 14, 2022.

Adeline Akiko Kawano was born on April 9, 1934 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After high school, she attended Lawrence University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She then enlisted in the U.S. Army at Steilacoom, Washington and served in various military hospitals in Europe and the United States before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel at Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1986. Her last assignment was as the Officer In Charge of the Occupational Therapy Clinic at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center. In addition to supervising and rehabilitating recovering service members, she taught arts and crafts to all who were interested. She was a member of the Military Officers Association and the Hawaii Association of Augusta. Ad was a very warm and giving person who always brought sweet treats and gifts for everyone on every holiday or occasion. She was a true flower girl as was evidenced by the variety of both real and silk plants in and around her home. She delighted in fashioning flower arrangements and worked at a local florist as often as she could. All who knew her loved her and we mourn her passing.
