AUGUSTA, Ga. - Decorative Arts Scholar and Historian of fine and decorative arts of the 18th and 19th centuries, departed this life Wednesday evening, July 20, 2016. He was the son of the late Leoline Louise Ivey and Wyke Cleveland Ivey Jr. of Augusta. A true southern gentleman, Wyke was the author of countless papers relative to domestic silverware, porcelain and crystal of the past three centuries. He was a mentor to many curators and collectors. He was also preceded in death by his niece, Catherine Alyison Howard. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, John Michael Ivey, and his sister, Mary Louise Ivey-Hanson, of Augusta; his niece, Zelpha Louise Hanson Smith of Columbia, SC; and his grand-nephew, Alexander Jameson Howard, of Clermont, FL. Wyke will be forever remembered for his brilliant memory and mind; his beautiful conversations; his endearing personality; his exquisite penmanship; and his passion for proper etiquette. Family, friends, and acquaintances will never forget his love, true kindness, and unending generosity. At Wyke's request a private family burial will take place Monday, July 25, 2016, at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta. There will be no visitation. Thomas L.
