William Christopher Powell, 29, better known as Op by his family and friends, entered into rest on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Chris graduated from Cross Creek High School in 2013. Chris loved working on lawnmowers and fishing with his papa (Buck), cars and trucks with his dad (David), and cooking with his momma (Ann). Chris will be remembered for his smile and his love for his family.

Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Bull (Walter David); his paternal grandfather, Johnny Clyde Whisnant (Teresa); and a multitude of aunts and uncles who loved him dearly.

Chris was born on February 6, 1994, to William David Powell II (Marion Arlene Turner) and Leslie Rena Powell (David Michael Key). He is survived by his paternal grandfather, William David Powell (Buck); his momma, Ann Jones; his maternal grandmother, Teresa Whisnant; his uncle, Shawn Brown; aunt, Renay Brown; and his brothers and sisters, Amber Bryant, Dalton Sean Jones, Dylan Lynnwood Jones (Nadia), Noah Cash Jones, Ketron McCoy Jones, David Michael Key, Jr., and Brandon Jacob Powell; his nieces and nephew, Ciara, Aniya, and Xazier; as well as a very special uncle, James Maddox; and aunts, Jennifer Maddox and Tasha Phillips.

Pallbearers include Shawn Brown, Dalton Jones, Dylan Jones, Noah Jones, Ketron Jones, and James Maddox.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907, with Pastor Dewain French officiating, and with interment immediately following at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta GA 30904. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
