Vincent “Bubba” Eugene Alewine, age 69, of Augusta, GA, passed away on January 6th, 2026.
Vince was born on November 19th, 1956 to Eugene “Red” Alewine and Patricia Ann Lott. He grew up in Augusta, where he attended Butler High School until senior year. He later completed his G.E.D. with his mother Ann Lott.
Vince was married to Gail Mailloux and they shared 19 years together. He is survived by his stepfather Freddie Lott ,his siblings Gail Crawford, Sherri Norris (Terry), and Janice Gauze (Kevin), his nieces and nephew Cheri, Kenneth, Kaitlin,Cody, Cassidy, Zach, Sarah, Jake and Logan; and many aunts, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. He leaves behind children through Gail: Jason Bogdan (Lita), Amanda Palacios (Douglas), and Brandon Goodwin (Vanessa) along with grandchildren JR, Savannah, Samantha, Blake, Little Lita, Logan, Abagail, and Lily.
Vince dedicated his life to being a Police Officer . He started at Augusta Police Department then moved to Statesboro and later medically retired from Waynesboro Police Department. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friends Tommy and Jeff. Friends and family will remember him growing from a wild train hopping kid to a quiet observant man who was always looking out for his loved ones. When at home, you would find him catching up with family over email, gardening, and feeding the local stray cats. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan rarely missing a game.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home. It is being held in conjunction with his mother Ann Lott’s memorial who passed away December 25th, 2025. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Georgia Wildlife Federation. Contributions may be made online at https://gwf.org/.
