Obituary

Valerie Lynn Wheeler, age 64, passed away January 15, 2026 surrounded by love and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born in Starkville, Mississippi, Valerie was the daughter of William Massey Jr. and Willie Mae Massey, affectionately known as Bill and Billie; both of whom preceded her in death. From childhood through adulthood, Lynn—as she was lovingly called—had an unmatched optimism for life. She believed in enjoying every moment and brought joy wherever she went.

Lynn loved having a good time with her family and friends. She cherished game nights, girls’ trips, and a well-made margarita, always finding reasons to laugh and celebrate life. Her warm spirit and fun-loving nature made her a joy to be around.

She dedicated nearly 30 years of her career to Greenfield Industries, where she truly enjoyed her work and formed lasting friendships with her coworkers, whom she cared for deeply.

Lynn also had a generous heart and a passion for giving back and rescuing animals. She devoted much of her time volunteering with the American Cancer Society and especially loved participating in Relay for Life events, where she made meaningful memories while supporting a cause close to her heart. As a passionate animal lover who rescued animals whenever she could, offering them care, safety, and unconditional love. Her kindness extended to all living things.

She is survived by her younger brother Bill Massey and her beloved boyfriend Peter Schadek. As well as her two daughters, Dallas and Taylor, whom she loved deeply and was immensely proud of.

Lynn will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. A it celebration of life will be held in Lynn’s honor on February 7th at the VFW Evans post# 12190, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
