Obituary

Tyrell James Lassiter, 78, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on September 14, 2025.

Tyrell was born in East Meadow, New York on September 10, 1947. He went to school at Malverne High School in Malverne in Long Island, New York.  He married Patricia (Garvin) Lassiter on October 27, 1973 in Hempstead, New York. He graduated from New York Institute of Technology where he studied Computer Science and Electronic Technology.

He worked as an Electronic Switching Technician for New York Telephone/NYNEX Corp. from 1971-1991.  He was a veteran who served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 where he was responsible for communications and information systems and offered technical support for military operations.

Always by his side, Leroy and Harriett Dunbar met Tyrell in 2010 and their relationship developed from polite neighbors to trusted friends, even into his death. Tyrell not only trusted Leroy but also Harriett to be the Guardians (parents) for his son Kyle Lassiter. They developed a trusted friendship that would be victorious over all of Life's Storms and they would be many. Tyrell will indeed be missed and this friendship will sail on in the lives of his children.

Tyrell is preceded in death by his mother Ella Singfield Lassiter, father James Lassiter and long-time companion Nicole Disque.

Tyrell is survived by his children Tiffany Lassiter and Kyle Lassiter.

The Lassiter family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Dunbar and Coleman family, Doctors Hospital of Augusta and Windermere Health and Rehabilitation for their outstanding care and support.

Please consider donations to the National Veterans Foundation (nvf.org) and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (vvmf.org) in lieu of flowers or gifts.

"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him."

Psalm 103:13 (NIV)
