IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan
Huffman
April 18, 1961 – May 20, 2025
Susan Huffman, 64, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, with her son, Steven, and close friends Robin and Jimmy Austin lovingly by her side.
Born and raised in Augusta, Susan was a proud graduate of Westside High School, Class of 1979, and remained close with many of her classmates throughout her life. Her roots ran deep in her hometown, where she built a life centered on compassion, kindness, and connection.
Susan had a true heart for helping others and always showed up for friends and family without hesitation. Her generous spirit extended to animals as well – she was a fierce advocate for their wellbeing and volunteered with multiple dog and animal welfare organizations over the years. Her love of music, especially southern rock legends like Bob Seger and The Eagles, brought joy to her and everyone around her. Whether she was dancing in the kitchen or singing along at the top of her lungs, Susan brought life and laughter wherever she went.
She is survived by her two children, Steven Sganga and Joan Murphy (Jake); two grandchildren, Bailey and Jacob Murphy; her brother, Steve Huffman (Annie Lee); her sister-in-law Karleen Huffman, wife of her late brother James O. Huffman (Jimmy); and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. Huffman and Joan Myrick Huffman; her brother Jimmy; and her sister Lee Ann Hegler.
Susan was truly special—funny, caring, and full of love. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on May 30, 2025, from 6–8 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd., Martinez, GA. A casual memorial gathering is also being planned for a later date at Robin and Jimmy Austen's home in Harlem, where friends and loved ones can come together to celebrate her life.
