Steven Wayne
Sleister
September 3, 1970 – May 7, 2026
Steven Sleister passed away on May 7, 2026.
A man known for his great sense of humor, Steven was genuinely larger-than-life—not only in stature but in heart. Those close to him remember a gentle giant who carried both his emotions and his love for others with equal pride and tenderness. Steven’s passions reflected the depth and vibrancy of his character. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in nature—whether fishing, kayaking, camping, or simply spending time at the lake. Beyond the natural world, he delighted in the challenges of trivia, the excitement of game shows, and the camaraderie found in board games. Music was another cherished dimension of his life, enriching his days with rhythm and soul.
Steven was a beloved son to his father Richard Sleister and mother Lynda Parrish, who survive him along with his children: Sara Smith (Taylor), Chelsea Scritchfield (Jason), Catie Colón (Gian), Cole Hopkins, and Marley Sleister; the mother of his children, Senta Buchanan. He was a cherished brother to Dawn Cobb (Jerry), Scott Sleister, and Tammy Jacobs (Mickey), and a loving grandfather to Rowyn Scritchfield, Montgomery Scritchfield, Wesley Scritchfield, Ingrid Colón, Penelope Colón, Wren Colón, and Mathilde Smith.
His family circle was further enriched by his nieces and nephews: Amanda Yount (Jesse), Michelle Rogers (Chris), Jarrett Weathers (Cayley), and Bailey Sleister, along with numerous other friends and family members who held him close in their hearts.
Steven is mourned alongside the memories of his stepmother Judy Sleister and stepbrother Clay Matthews, who predeceased him.
