Steven Derwood Scott, I died on February 10th, 2026, at Wellstar MCG. Steve was born on April 2nd, 1951, in Augusta, Georgia, to Allen Lanier Scott and Frankie Evelyn Burgess.

A lifelong resident of Augusta, he was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald Scott of Augusta; his sister-in-law, Gayle Cochrane Scott; and his wife, Mary Lou (Carter) Scott.

Steve is survived by his son, Steven D. Scott, II, and his granddaughter, Anna Harper Scott. Additional survivors include his nephews, Lanny Scott and Jimmy Scott.

Retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections, he last served at Augusta State Medical Prison as a Lieutenant/Unit Manager. Steve was quick-witted with a sarcastic sense of humor. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with friends.
