EVANS, Ga. - Shirley Annette Day Lane clasped the hands of her Jesus, Lord and Savior early morning September 28, 2015. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia, youngest child of Jessie Lee Hobby and John Madison Day. She married the love of her life, Frank Lane, on January 21, 1953 and they celebrated the births and joy of four children. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Lane, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Frank Lane, Jr. (Laurie), John Lane (Lisa), Leslie Smith (David) and Karen Yourchak (Randy), as well as grandchildren, George Frank Lane III, Richard Horne (Parris), Ashley Horne (Rodney), Rachel Lane, Rebekah Lane, Caris Lane, Emily Yourchak Hernandez (Enrique), Jennifer Yourchak, Victoria Yourchak, Jonathan Yourchak, William Yourchak and James Yourchak. Great grandchildren include Brianna Horne, Gianna Hernandez, and Ashton Hatcher. Shirley spent much of her life as a military wife and mother, enjoying her role as Scout and PTA leader, Sunday school teacher and leader of several Bible studies. She also helped start a Columbia County jail ministry and led others to Christ any opportunity she had. She was much loved by her family along with her extended family in Columbus and particularly enjoyed the last few months of her life living with her son and daughter-in-law in Evans and enjoying chocolate cakes made just for her. The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Doctor's Hospital who took such loving care of Shirley, as well as her daughter Karen, who sat with her each night. A celebration of her life will be held graveside on Wednesday, September 30, at 11:00am at Bellevue Memorial Gardens at 4501 Wrightsboro Rd. in Grovetown, Georgia. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 29 from 5pm-7pm at Thomas King Funeral Home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be donated to Martinez Baptist Church, Martinez, Georgia. Thomas L.
