Shaun Thomas Sims, 54, entered into rest on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Shaun is preceded in death by his father, Russell Thomas Sims. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Busby (Robert); daughter, Taylor Sims; son, Austin Myers; sister, Dawn Sims; fiance, Sheila Parker; stepchildren, Megan New, Harrison Parker, and Taylor Parker Leedon, and grandchildren; and his nieces, Katie Breeds (Sean), Anna Rouse, and Jamie Rouse.

Shaun was born in Louisville, Kentucky in October 1969 and is the son of Ruth Busby of Brandenburg, Kentucky and Russell Thomas Sims of New Albany, Indiana. He is a 1987 graduate of Meade County High School, Brandenburg, Kentucky. Shaun served proudly in the Navy from May 13, 1988 through May 31, 2008, when he retired as an ET1. During his time in the Navy, he became a valued member of the DOD SATCOM community, a treasured relationship he continued into civilian life.

Shaun loved his family and kids. He was the family comedian, the family IT man, and the family "Santy" Claus each year for Christmas. Shaun was White Castle's #1 customer, and he loved whenever he could get his Big Red soda. Shaun was a good man, and was especially genuine. He was well-loved and will be missed by all.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez GA 30907, with Pastor Dewain French officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
