IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruby (Frye)
Coleman
February 11, 1936 – March 16, 2025
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, beloved mother and grandmother Ruby Frye Coleman entered into rest at 7:45 a.m. the age of 89.
To those who had the honor to know Ruby Coleman, she was the ultimate, living representation of the woman described in Proverbs 31. "She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life… She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family…She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks… She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue…Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." (Proverbs 31:10-28 NIV)
Ruby Coleman worked at Lamar Elementary School as the lunchroom manager, cooking and feeding countless children, faculty, and staff for many years. She served alongside her husband in ministry for over 50 years in the Congregational Holiness Denomination and as pastor's wife at the Cornerstone Fellowship Congregational Holiness Church.
One of seven children, she was born February 11, 1936, to Leo Frye and Annie Mae Frye, in Lexington, South Carolina. Ruby Coleman is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Bobby E. Coleman. She is survived by daughters Jeanette Stokely (Ricky) and Victoria Irby (Anthony); eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, three sisters and three brothers, and her son, Madison Edward Coleman (Cathy).
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Thomas L. King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Stokely and Rev. Anthony Irby officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joe Mole, Gabriel Irby, Noah Irby, Michael Irby, Taylor Coleman, and Christopher Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Lamb, and Donnie Beck.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the CSRA Humane Society.
