Mr. Ronald Randolph Shirey, age 72, entered into rest on July 7, 2022 after a battle against cancer. He was born in 1950 in Columbia, SC but lived most of his life in Augusta, Georgia. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972.

Mr. Shirey retired as an Assistant Fire Chief with the Augusta Richmond County Fire Department after 32 years of service. He enjoyed watching Georgia Bulldog football games and loved playing video games with his sons. Mr. Shirey was a devoted father and loved his family dearly.

Family members include his sons: Steven Shirey (Stacy) and Jonathan Shirey (Heather); grandchildren: Myles Shirey, Madilynn Shirey, Emma Shirey, Logan Shirey, Christofer Cox, Tyler Meyer and Timmy Meyer; great-grandson Brayden Meyer; his brother Clarence B. Shirey, Jr. (Debby) and sister Barbara Guidry (Raymond) and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence B. Shirey, Sr. and Etta Mae Shirey.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Shirey's life will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in the Chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
