Obituary

Rafael Rolando Rodriguez Landero, known as DJ Papa Oso, El Oso Yogui, Rolan, Malaca, F-150, Tractor passed away on Friday, April 7th, 2023.

He was born in Panama and moved to the USA in March of 1997 to be reuinited with his mother and brothers, where he continued to pursue his hobby as a DJ, and a chef, and he wore many hats as a provider. He had some chronic health conditions, and in May 2020, he suffered a massive heart attack that prevented him from continuing his construction career.

He was loved and respected by so many people in the CSRA area for his kindness and would take the shirt off his back for so many to have.

He had children with his main squeeze, the love of his life Nancy Fuentes, with whom he had one daughter, Marilyn Julieth "Rodriguez" Munoz who is married to Leonardo Munoz, and grandkids Keenjee Alvarado Jr. and Leandro Munoz.

Daddy's girl, his princess: I love to get all dressed up, and on New Year's Eve I went upstairs to get dressed up and when I came down, Daddy told me, "it took you three hours to get dressed to come down wearing one of your curtains", as I was wearing a gold sparkly dress. He taught me how to cook his famous rice with chicken and many of our traditional dishes. His grandkids enjoy him to the fullest and made special trips to their favorite place called Waffle House at every opportunity he had; he did everything he could for them, and he taught them so much and will forever be in their hearts.

Son Rafael Rolando Rodriguez is engaged to Amanda Roberts, and grandkids, Kaitlyn Rodriguez, John Whitfield, Damien Rodriguez, and Calliope Rodriguez: My pop who was more than just a dad he was my mentor, my best friend, and much more to us. He was one of the strongest, goofiest men known on earth, a loving man who touched the soul of everyone he met, and I am the man I am today because of him. Damien loves his pops because he always wrestled with him, cooked for him, and loves him and his family.

Son Rolando Rafael Rodriguez, and grandkids Nevelyn Pachecos, Rolando Rodriguez Jr., Amora Skeens, Laiyani Rodriguez, Serenity Rodriguez, Ysabelle Leblanc, and Novalyn Rodriguez: the father doesn't even come close to what you were to me. Time took you from me too soon, but I was blessed to have you as a best friend, and a true role model, and though all the difficult times and headaches, you never loved me any different. You raised me and even a lot of my friends would call you Pops, and even though you are not here anymore there's a memory that will never vanish of the love and inspiration you gave us, Father to me, best friend to many, to my kids Pee Paw, and one of the homies.

He was the beloved son of Marlene Rodriguez Landero "James," who in May 1994 departed Panama to pursue a better life, and when she left and said her goodbyes she made a promise to him that she wasn't sure where she was going or how things were going to turn out, but one thing she was sure of that she was going to make sure that all her kids will be reunited. He placed her bags and ran and ran and didn't finish saying goodbye because he couldn't take the pain. When all my kids arrived in the US, I felt complete.

He was the beloved son of his deceased father, Juan Elias Rodriguez P. His father loved his son's cooking some of his favorite dishes were chicken livers, soups, and many of his many dishes.

Brother of Juan Elias Rodriguez L married to Cari Eckert Rodriguez, uncle to Jose Manuel Rodriguez, Valeria Rodriguez, Esteban Rodriguez, Richie Rodriguez, Lena Rodriguez, Joe McCarty, Shannon Attaway McCarty: as teenagers we had one of our biggest fights of all time and while fighting he told me, "Oh you're tough", and because he was such a big guy he thought I was going to give and surrender. This occurred on a rainy day, and we fought and fought and fought until we both fell on our knees facing each other and we stared at each other and started crying. We hugged and on that day we promised each other not to ever fight again and we kept that promise.

Brother of Ricardo Rodriguez married to Erika Rodriguez, uncle to Genesis Johnson, Jayden Rodriguez, and Reyden Rodriguez: my brother was my mentor for music, his well-respected knowledge of artists and music made me fall in love with music. His passion became my passion. He transmitted so much love and respect to me that music was our deepest connection, because of him I love grilling, he treated and loved my kids so much that they are proud to call him uncle.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez married to Carilyn Olaves, uncle to Isabel Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Alexa Rodriguez, Sofia Rodriguez, and our newest family addition Emily Rodriguez: my 1st construction job doing Sheetrock was with my brother at Fort Gordon. They were very strict on the job site. It was my 1st job in construction, and I didn't have a need to work since I was still in high school, I didn't really care about the job. I was my brother's partner, on one occasion they sent us to fix some screws but I didn't do a very good job, therefore the foreman asked me to fix it, we fixed them, and he wasn't satisfied so he came back really upset saying I asked you to fix the screws, and I told him don't worry I quit and my brother looks at me and said don't do it, I need the job, but he had no choice but to quit because he couldn't continue working without a partner. He was so upset that he had to quit because of me but later laughed about the situation. I know how happy of a person he was and when he got sick it broke my heart to see him suffer, I know my brother is in a better place.

He had a passion for cooking, music, and his country Panama's culture, and he carried his Panamanian roots very well while being away from his beloved country.
