MARTINEZ, Ga. - Paul Desforges, age 90, died at his home on November 21, 2016. Mr. Desforges was a native of Winooski, Vermont and long- time resident of Martinez, Georgia. A retired, noncommissioned officer in the US Army, he was awarded a Purple Heart (Korean War) and Bronze Star; other awards include: World War II Victory Medal; Good Conduct; Korean Treatment, United Nations (Korea) and National Defense Service Metal; Military Merit; Combat Medical Badge and Combat Infantryman's Badge (the most respected badge awarded by the Army). Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Frieda Desforges; sister Claire Mercure (Scottsdale, Arizona); son Alfred Desforges (Hoover, AL) ; and daughter Monika Jones-Lyons (Tampa, FL); six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Martha Desforges; his parents Joseph A. & Eva Desforges and thirteen siblings. Paul enjoyed fishing and his family and had a great love for his companion cat "Ringo". The family will receive visitors On Friday, November 25, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Alzheimer's Association or The American Heart Association.
