IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neddie Ray
Goble
June 8, 1953 – November 29, 2023
Neddie Ray Goble (Jack), a man of unwavering dedication to his family and country, passed away on November 29, 2023, at the age of 70. He is now at peace after a life filled with love, service, and commitment to those he held dear.
Jack was born on June 8, 1953, the youngest of 5 born to Brooks and Gladys Goble in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. From an early age he was called "Jack", after the doctor that delivered him. His family moved to Indiana when he was just an infant and he remained there through his teenage years. As a teenager, he displayed a strong sense of duty and patriotism that would define his remarkable life. This commitment led him to follow his older brothers into military service. He served his country with honor and dedication for over 20 years.
Throughout his military journey, Jack demonstrated exceptional courage, resilience, and he faced challenges with a steadfast determination, earning the respect and admiration of his peers. He was a leader, mentor, and friend to many. His service took him to various corners of the world where he was able to travel and explore with his family.
After dedicating decades of his life to military service, Jack retired as Sergeant First Class with numerous accolades and commendations in recognition of his outstanding contributions. He then joined the team at American International Movers as a general manager, where he stayed until 2022 when he officially retired. His retirement allowed him to give in to his wanderlust and travel the world, most often in his motorhome, which Connie often called his "mistress", as he spent a lot time and money on to keep it running.
Jack was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Connie, at the young age of 19 and together they built a life rich in love, joy, and shared experiences. Jack was a caring and supportive husband, and his marriage of 51 years was a testament to the enduring power of love.
Jack's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. As a loving father, he was actively involved in the lives of his children, providing guidance, support, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, life lessons, and a family bond that will endure through the ages.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Brooks and Gladys Goble; and his brothers, Gary and Gene Goble. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; his children, Angela Hornsby (Jesse), Sara Thompson (Tracy), and Austin Goble (Samantha); and his grandchildren, Zachary Hornsby (Katie), Joshua Hornsby, Michael Hornsby, Hunter Thompson, Bryson Thompson, Emilia Goble, and Charlotte Goble. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Goble (Tan); sister, Clelda Benning (David); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family that he dearly loved spending time with.
As we mourn the loss of Jack, let us remember the profound impact he had on our lives and the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, sacrifice, and commitment will forever be etched in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in the chapel at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez GA 30907. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Columbia County Humane Society ( https://cc-hs.tripod.com/ ), a cause that held special significance for Jack as he so loved his many pets, but especially his frenchton, Nelson (aka PeeWee).
May he rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live with purpose, courage, and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family and friendship.
