Thorne GROVETOWN, Ga. - Entered into rest on Nov. 19, 2016, Mr. Michel Lance (Thorny) Thorne, 45, husband of Mrs. Allison B. Thorne of Grovetown, Ga. The funeral will be Wed., Nov. 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Park Gymnasium with Chaplains Richard Thigpen and Sonny Serigney officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Mr. Throne will lie in state at the gymnasium with Fireman's Honors at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of Grovetown Public Safety. Honorary pallbearers will be surround fire departments, law enforcement and ambulance services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ga. Firefighters Burn Foundation, 2575 Chantilly Dr., Atlanta, Ga. 30324. Thorny, as he was named by his family and friends, was a very dedicated servant to public safety. He served for 25 years in fire and EMS. He would dress up as Klutzy the Clown and go to the children's hospital and entertain the children. He played Santa Clause in the Grovetown Christmas Tree services. He also dressed as Sparky The Dog in the Christmas Parade. He never met a stranger. He was a loving and caring person and dedicated to his family and his profession. He attended Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Delva Mae Thorne. Additional survivors include his wife, Allison Bragg Thorne; daughter, Mary Ann Elizabeth Thorne; sister, Kelly McNeal (husband David), North Augusta, S.C.; mother-in-law, Mary Marchman Bragg; three uncles, Frank, Kenny, Ronnie Lazar; two sisters-in-law, Alicia Bragg and Martha Ann Bragg; and three nieces.
