Obituary

Michael Alan Aycox went home to be with our Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018. He was second born to Carolyn and Thomas Aycox on May 23, 1959 and had 59 years here with us on earth. He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Jeanne Aycox; a daughter, Amanda Creech; and a son, David Aycox. He has two brothers, Craig (Sherry) Aycox of Dearing, Georgia, and Robin (Donie Cook) Aycox of Augusta, Georgia, and a sister, Nancy (Steve) McGahee of Augusta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn And Thomas Aycox, and a son-in-law, Alton Creech. Mike began his life on a Saturday in May of 1959. Growing up in West Augusta, he met the love of his life at a young age in just the eighth grade... although he didn't realize this until some years later. He would go on to graduate from Richmond Academy in 1977. Only five short years later, he found a piece of his past on October 29, 1982. As God's timing is always perfect, Mike and Jeanne were engaged the following February and were married exactly one year later on October 29, 1983. After two years of marriage, they welcomed a daughter, Amanda Jeanne; and a short four years later, a son, David Alan. Mike was a man who worked hard to provide for his family. He went on to Augusta Technical College where he earned his degree at night while holding a full time job during the day. In 1992, Mike felt he needed one more thing to feel complete and accepted Jesus into his heart as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of National Hills Baptist Church where his family still attends. He didn't know it at the time, but he was already planting the seeds for the salvation of his children. Mike was a man of many trades and worked many different jobs throughout his life. For the last ten years, he was employed by the Richmond County Sheriffs Office. The thin blue line ran through him and connected his heart with the hearts of all his brothers and sisters in blue. In them, he gained a second family. He enjoyed his time away from work as well. He would spend his days riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday's, and whether he was around his family at home or at a gathering with loved ones, he always kept everyone on their toes and put a smile on their faces. The recipe of a man's life is simple and complex all at the same time. Mike spent 21,608 days on this earth. 12,683 of them as a husband, 11,939 as a father, his entire life as a brother, and countless days as a friend. But whether a father, a son, a husband, or a friend, Mike left footprints everywhere life took him, and continues to leave them as he lives on in the hearts of all those who know and love him. Mike's family will receive friends at King's Funeral Home on Davis Road in Augusta on Tuesday evening from 5-7pm and a memorial service will be held in the chapel Wednesday morning at 11am. Thomas L.
