Obituary

Mercedes Bosi Estrera (born Mercedes Concepcion Bosi to Claudio Bosi and Marciana Concepcion Bosi), lovingly known as “Mercy” to some and “Nanay” and “Lola” to many, went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2026, at the age of 79. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and joy that will forever live in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those blessed to have known her.

Born on March 7, 1947, in Baluncanag Rizal Cagayan in the Philippines, Mercy spent much of her life in Valenzuela and San Rafael Bulacan. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Felipe Estrera, beginning a life together filled with family, hard work, and cherished memories.

In 2005, Mercy and Felipe came to the United States to live with their daughter, Marifel, and son-in-law, Tom. Although they made their home in America, their hearts remained deeply connected to the Philippines. They periodically traveled back to visit family and friends, keeping close the relationships and memories that meant so much to them. Family was always at the center of Mercy’s life, and the bonds she nurtured across continents remained a treasured part of her story.

Mercy’s beloved husband, Felipe, preceded her in death in 2017. We take comfort they are reunited in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Mercy dedicated many years of her professional life to serving as a District Manager at LifePlan Insurance. Her work gave her opportunities to travel, meet new people, and build relationships wherever she went. She genuinely enjoyed talking with people and making connections. Later, she and Felipe opened their own business, continuing their journey together through hard work and entrepreneurship and building a family.

While Mercy accomplished much throughout her life, her greatest legacy was the love she shared and the faith she lived out each day. She loved God deeply and treasured His Word. Reading the Bible, sharing Scripture, and praying for the people she loved were among the ways she expressed her devotion to the Lord. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she demonstrated through her kindness, generosity, and care for others.

Mercy had a special gift for making people feel loved and welcomed. She was a hugger, a giver, and someone who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She loved making people smile and had a way of bringing warmth and joy into every room she entered. Those who knew her will remember her beautiful smile and the way she could light up a room and brighten the company she was in. Her presence was a blessing, her hugs brought comfort, and her generous heart made people feel special.

Above all, Mercy loved her family. She prayed for them, cared for them, and carried them in her heart. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a precious legacy that extends through generations. Her life was a testimony to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the beauty of loving others wholeheartedly.

Mercy is survived by her children: Michael (Gloria, deceased), James (Jenaica), Felipe Jr., and Marifel (Tom). She was a beloved grandmother to Mark John “JohnJohn”, Feldione “Oneng”, Michael Ivan “Ivan”, Joshua, Janice, Brandon, Joseph, Johnathan, and Jace, and a cherished great-grandmother to Liarra Martyne “Arya”, Michael Yzid “Yze”, Jaxon, and Aiden.

She is also survived by her sister, Maria “Tersing” (Herman, deceased). She was preceded in death by her sisters Myrna (Pepito, deceased) and Daling (Sendo, deceased) and her brothers Kikoy (Tercing, deceased) and Romeo (Rubing).

Though our hearts grieve her passing, we do not grieve without hope. Mercy’s love for the Lord was central to her life, and her family finds comfort in the promises of God and the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We will miss her hugs, her laughter, her prayers, her generosity, and above all, the beautiful smile that could light up any room. Yet the love she gave, the faith she shared, and the memories she created will remain with us always.

Her earthly journey has ended, but her testimony lives on. The seeds of faith she planted, the lives she touched, and the love she poured into others will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.

Until we meet again, Mercy. You will be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
