Obituary

Melvin Louis "Lou" Carreras, 79, entered into rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, April 14th, 2022, at Select Hospital.

Lou was born on April 17th, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Mary Lee Barwick and Louis Melvin Carreras.

Lou served honorably in the United States Air Force for 4 years right out of high school, and then became a self-employed electrician/contractor. Lou was a longtime member of Kairos Prison Ministry. Bringing the Word of God through the Prison Ministry was a great passion of his. His greatest accomplishments were being a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, and Papa. Lou loved his family and friends more than anything in this world, and he never met a stranger anywhere he'd go. When he wasn't working, you could find him on the back nine of the Pointe South golf course with his favorite foursome. He is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Carreras of Augusta; his daughters, Melinda "Chantel" Carreras of North Augusta, and Deanna "Dede" Carreras of  Augusta; his son, Luis M. Carreras of Atlanta; step-son, Coyle Harmon (Laurie) of North Augusta; grandchildren, Cameron W. Carreras, Kylee M. Carreras, Eros Carreras, Sol Elizabeth Carreras, and Stephen Harmon; his sisters, Gloria Carreras LoPinto of Martinez, and Jean Turner (Dennis) of North Augusta; and his brothers, Thomas "Tom" Carreras of West Palm Beach, FL, and David Barwick (Debbie) of Atlanta.  He was also very loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Life visitation service held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 21st, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd, Martinez, GA 30907.
