(Studstill) Swebilius
July 28, 1934 – July 9, 2023
Marjorie E. Swebilius, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior and her late husband Peter C. Swebilius Sr., in the early evening of Sunday, July 9th, 2023.
Marjorie is survived by her five children, Christine Ledger, Cynthia Solomon and her husband Greg, Susan Beckham and her husband Michael, Marjorie (Beth) Lankford, and Peter Swebilius Jr. and his wife Beth; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter C. Swebilius Sr.; father, James Augusta Studstill; mother, Grace Elizabeth Thomas; brother, Ray James Studstill; and her sisters, Lois Eugenia Mathis, Evelyn Adams, and Shirley Grace Paustian.
Born in Plant City, Florida, on July 28, 1934, Marjorie was the daughter of the late James Augusta Studstill and Grace Elizabeth Thomas. Marjorie Studstill met the love of her life, Peter Swebilius, when they were both sixteen years old, and married January 20, 1951. Marjorie was adored by her husband for 70 years. They built their family, lives, and careers in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, until their retirement in 1991. Marjorie's early career existed of being a famer's wife, realtor, and working for both G.E. and NASA at Cape Canaveral. They were members of The First United Methodist Church, active in their Samsula community SNPJ Lodge 603 (Slovene National Benefit Society), and loved to go on cruises. After their retirement, they moved to a cabin in the hills of Murphy, North Carolina, and started a craft business known as Pete-Mar Crafts. They enjoyed many years of traveling to craft shows, where they made many new friends. In their later years and with poor health, they returned to Florida to be near family. When her husband Peter passed on August 7, 2021, and Marjorie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she was moved near her family in Augusta, Georgia, where she was a resident of Augusta Gardens until her passing on July 9th, 2023, nineteen days short of her 89th birthday.
A memorial service will be held for both Marjorie and Peter Swebilius at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Insights and Research Breakthroughs (https://www.brightfocus.org/alzheimers).
