IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret E.
(Broshears) Dickson
May 7, 1930 – April 30, 2024
Margaret E. "Margie" Dickson peacefully entered into rest on April 30, 2024. She is preceded in death by Tom and Francis Broshears (parents); Joseph P. Dickson (husband); Ruth "Ruthie" Lopez (sister); Bill Dickson (son); Linda Davis (daughter); and Tommy Dickson (grandson). Born on May 7, 1930, in Gary, Indiana, Margaret often shared with a burst of laughter the story of how she met her future husband, Joseph Privette Dickson, in Augusta in 1957. While working in a cocktail bar, she captured the heart of Joseph, a recent Clemson University graduate and newly commissioned lieutenant in the U.S. Army, who just returned from his tour of duty in Europe. This story was one of her favorites, always told with a sparkle of mischief in her eyes. Their love quickly blossomed, and they enjoyed a blissful marriage of 47 years until Joseph's passing in 2005. Together, they built a loving life in Martinez, GA, deeply involved in their church and community, raising three children: William "Billy" Dickson, Linda Marie Dickson, and Joseph "Jody" Dickson, and played a role in raising her grandson, Randy.
Margaret was the heart and soul of her family, revered for her unwavering integrity and the pivotal role she played in keeping the family united. She was a constant presence at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. One of her favorite pastimes was looking through old photo albums, fondly recounting tales from days gone by, always laced with her never-ending witty humor. Her vibrant spirit and original striking red hair perfectly matched her passionate and dynamic personality. A fierce protector of her loved ones and a role model for excellence, Margaret's remarkable ability to forgive and reconcile endeared her to everyone who knew her, leaving a legacy of love and resilience.
After Joseph's death, Margaret often spoke of her anticipation to reunite with him in Heaven, looking forward to joyous reunions with Joe and Jesus, surrounded by eternal peace and love.
She is survived by her son Jody and his wife Kim; her grandchildren Randy and his wife Kyair, Stephanie and her husband Brian, and Rebecca and her husband Lee; along with great-grandchildren Evan (20), Tristan (14), Brinlee (9), Abigail (7), and Peyton (5); and her beloved grand dog Romeo.
