Louis "Lou" Mateka III, 65, of Augusta, entered into rest on March 18, 2024.

Louis was the son of Natalie Mateka and the late Louis Mateka Jr. He retired as the Administrator of Food Services from the VA. Following his retirement he continued to volunteer at the VA. He enjoyed shooting and was a Marksman in the Marine Reserves. He loved animals especially cats, he would even feed cats in his neighborhood that were abandoned. He was a good hearted man and devoted to his family which was shown when he moved in to help take care of his brother. He will be deeply missed by his family and his friends.

Louis is survived by his mother, Natalie Mateka; siblings, Natalie Ann Campbell and Steve Mateka; step mother, Becky Mateka; step siblings, Melissa, Carroll, and Carla; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 28, 2024 in the chapel of Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd., Augusta GA 30907, with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating.
