Obituary

Leona Marie Justice, 86 entered peacefully into rest on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

"Lee" is preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Woods of West Virginia, her sisters Phyllis, Judy, and Louise, her son Jeffrey and her grandson Zakkary.

She leaves behind her children, Diana Renee Williams and Michael Echard, her grandchildren Dylan, Ericka, and Jeff, her sisters Linda and Louis and her brother Roger. Lee also leaves behind her larger family including many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins in West Virginia and Ohio.

Lee was a beautiful lady with many friends and a strong matriarch, who passed at the age of 86. Born in a small town in the coal mine's of West Virginia, during the tumultuous years of the Great Depression, Lee's early life was marked by hardship and struggle. Yet, it was these challenges that shaped her into the hardworking, unconventional and fiercely independent woman she became.

From a young age, Lee understood the value of perseverance and hard work. She often recounted stories of her childhood, truly a coal miner's daughter where she learned to make due with what little was available . Her courage, independence, strength and humor became her armor, allowing her to face adversity with a smile and a clever quip that could light up any room.

Lee was not just a survivor; she was a trailblazer. After the Depression, she made a successful career in the food and beverage industry proving that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Lee leaves behind a legacy of strength, a catalog of stories and an unwavering belief in the power of the human spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity or organization of their choice in Lee's name.

A Celebration of Life will be held with family in West Virginia honoring her wishes to return to her Appalachian roots and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date by her daughter with the many friends Lee had in Augusta.
