Leon was born in Lakeland, Georgia on December 13, 1956 and grew up in Dupont, Georgia. He graduated from Clinch County High School and enjoyed watching their football games online these past few years.

He was a humble man and a gentle giant who worked hard all his life to provide for his family.  He would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone who needed him.  He was the best Husband,  Daddy, Pawpaw (Papaw) and loved with his whole heart.

Leon loved being outdoors, driving his 4 by 4 down the dirt roads, playing with his dogs and cat, tending his honey bees and most of all he loved his family.  He spent endless hours playing with and teaching his grandsons Timmy and Ashyr, doing all he could to let them have fun and to teach them what he knew.

Known as "Nat" on the job, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Bell South, ATT&T and Ansco & Asso. putting in cable and fiber optic cable all over Augusta and the surrounding areas.  Considered the best operator by the men he worked with he was both loved and respected. He willing taught those who wanted to learn including Ryan Cook and Bryan McKinnon who he considered his sons.

Leon impacted the lives around him with his love, kindness,  generosity and fun loving spirit.  Everyone who knew him loved him, children and animals were drawn to him. He loved his Lord and enjoyed watching Pastor Sandra Kennedy online when he could. He also enjoyed listening to Gospel, Country and Rock & Roll music.  He was a grill master and always slipped something off for his dogs, Bella & Chloe, who only had eyes for him.

Leon will be missed by his family and friends and we find comfort knowing we'll see him again. Thomas L. King Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
